MILAN, December 17 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – U.S. pop star Mariah Carey will perform at the opening ceremony of the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, organisers said, marking her first appearance on the Olympic stage.
Carey is the first international performer announced by the Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026. The opening ceremony will take place on Feb. 6 at Milan’s San Siro Stadium, a venue with a capacity of around 75,000 spectators.
In an Instagram post announcing her participation, Carey addressed audiences in Italian and invited viewers to watch her performance. The ceremony will be staged across multiple locations, including Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, reflecting the distributed format of the Games, which will also take place in Predazzo, Bormio and Livigno.
The event, titled “Armonia” (“Harmony”), is being developed by Balich Wonder Studio and will feature a tribute to Italian designer and entrepreneur Giorgio Armani. Italian actress Matilda De Angelis has also been confirmed as a participant.
The opening ceremony will feature a central circular stage with LED-screen animations at San Siro Stadium, connected to the field via ramps. Athletes will be seated on the pitch in designated areas flanking the protocol stage.
The Winter Olympics will run from Feb. 6 to Feb. 22, followed by the Paralympic Games from March 6 to March 15. The Olympic closing ceremony and the Paralympic opening ceremony will both be held at the Arena di Verona.
