Magnitude 5.7 earthquake strikes Bangladesh; tremors felt in India

DHAKA, November 21, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – A magnitude 5.7 earthquake hit Bangladesh on Friday, according to the German Research Center for Geoscience (GFZ). The quake struck at a depth of 10 km (6 miles).
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said the epicentre was near the city of Narsingdi, around 40 km (25 miles) from the capital, Dhaka.
Tremors were felt in the eastern Indian states bordering Bangladesh, including in Kolkata, but there were no immediate reports of major damage or casualties, officials said.
In Dhaka, frightened residents rushed out their homes as buildings shook, and some makeshift structures collapsed, according to Reuters witnesses.
Authorities continue to assess the situation and urge caution.
