BEIRUT, June 22 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Lebanese President Joseph Aoun discussed efforts to end the conflict in Lebanon with U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, according to the Lebanese Presidency.
The talks focused on consolidating the ceasefire in Lebanon, stopping Israeli military escalation and possible steps to support that process, including the formation of a dedicated cell.
The call took place as talks continued in Switzerland, where the United States and Iran agreed on Sunday to establish a de-confliction cell aimed at ensuring the implementation of an agreement to end military operations in Lebanon, according to mediators.
Jared Kushner, U.S. President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, also joined the call. Kushner and U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff led negotiations with Iran that resulted in a memorandum of understanding.
A new round of negotiations between Lebanese and Israeli delegations is scheduled to take place in Washington, DC this week.
