Kuwait Bans Weddings and Concerts During Eid al-Fitr Amid Security Concerns

Kuwait City, March 12, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Ministry of Interior of Kuwait said Kuwait will temporarily ban weddings, concerts and theatrical performances during the upcoming Eid al-Fitr period as authorities seek to limit large gatherings amid regional security tensions.

The ministry said the measure takes effect immediately and will remain in place until further notice.

In a statement posted on social media, the ministry said the decision was taken as a precautionary step in light of the current circumstances affecting Kuwait and the wider region.

The restriction comes as the regional conflict entered its 13th day, prompting several Gulf countries to review security measures and emergency preparedness.

Authorities said the temporary ban aims to reduce large public gatherings and strengthen the ability of security services to respond to potential incidents.

“In light of the current circumstances facing the country and the region, and as part of the Ministry of Interior’s ongoing monitoring of security developments, it has been decided to prohibit the holding of plays, concerts and weddings during the period of the blessed Eid al-Fitr and until further notice,” the ministry said.

Officials warned that violations of the directive could result in legal action, urging citizens and residents to cooperate with the measures and prioritize public safety.

Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and is typically a peak period for weddings, concerts and large public celebrations across the Gulf.

Based on astronomical forecasts, the holiday is expected to begin around March 20, subject to the official moon sighting.
