Kuwait arrests four people affiliated with Iran’s Revolutionary Guards

DUBAI, May 12 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Kuwait’s Interior Ministry said it arrested four people affiliated with Iran’s Revolutionary Guards who attempted to infiltrate the Gulf state by sea, Reuters reported, citing state news agency KUNA.

The ministry said one member of Kuwait’s armed forces was injured in clashes with the infiltrators.

Kuwait later summoned Iran’s ambassador and handed him a protest note over what it described as the infiltration of Bubiyan Island by the Revolutionary Guards, the Foreign Ministry said.

Bubiyan Island is Kuwait’s largest coastal island chain and is located in the northwest of the Gulf.

Kuwait condemned the incident as a hostile act and said it reserved the right to defend its sovereignty under Article 51 of the U.N. Charter.

Iran rejected Kuwait’s accusations and said the four people had entered Kuwaiti waters because of a navigation disruption, Reuters reported.
