Jordan Denies Aqaba Airport and Seaport Were Evacuated Over Security Threat

AMMAN, July 19, Saudi Arabia Breaking News — Jordan’s government denied on Sunday that Aqaba International Airport and the city’s seaport had been evacuated, contradicting an earlier security notice issued by the US Embassy in Amman.
“No potential threats have been recorded by the relevant Jordanian authorities in the past few hours,” government spokesperson Dr. Mohammad Al-Momani said. “The authorities have not issued any evacuation orders at Aqaba Airport or the port.”
Al-Momani added that both facilities were operating normally.
The US Embassy had earlier said the airport and seaport were evacuated because of a “specific and credible threat” and advised Americans not to travel to either terminal.
The embassy had not immediately issued an update addressing the Jordanian government’s denial.
