Jeddah Islamic Port Named Key Hub for Gemini Cooperation’s AE15 and AE19 Services

JEDDAH, August 13 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Jeddah Islamic Port has been selected as a key hub for Gemini Cooperation’s AE15 and AE19 services following route changes through the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Suez Canal, the Saudi Ports Authority said.
Gemini Cooperation comprises Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd. Under the revised network, the AE19 service will call at Jeddah twice during each operating rotation — once while traveling from Asia toward the Mediterranean and again on its southbound return.
The route changes reduce the complete operating rotation from 16 weeks to approximately 14 weeks while maintaining weekly sailings.
The AE15 service links Jeddah Islamic Port with Qingdao and Ningbo in China, Gwangyang in Korea and Tanjung Pelepas in Malaysia. Its rotation also includes the Suez Canal, Port Said and Damietta in Egypt, Colombo in Sri Lanka and Singapore.
The AE19 network connects Jeddah with Shanghai, Qingdao and Ningbo in China, Busan in Korea and Tanjung Pelepas in Malaysia. Other points on the route include the Suez Canal, Port Said in Egypt, Tangier in Morocco and Singapore.
The updated services expand direct maritime connections between Saudi Arabia and markets across Asia and Europe while providing additional options for cargo moving to and from the Kingdom.
