Javier Bardem Calls for Israel to ‘Stop This Genocide’ in Gaza During Emmy Awards

Los Angeles, September 15, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Spanish actor Javier Bardem used his appearance on the red carpet at the 77th Emmy Awards on Sunday to call on Israel to “stop this genocide” in Gaza, as the conflict between Israel and Hamas continues.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Bardem cited the International Association of Genocide Scholars, which last month described the situation in Gaza as genocide. He urged sanctions and diplomatic measures against Israel and expressed support for the “Film Workers for Palestine” initiative, a group pledging to boycott companies and institutions seen as complicit in the conflict.

Bardem said he would refuse to work with film companies that do not condemn the war in Gaza, adding, “Me not getting jobs is absolutely irrelevant compared to what is going on there.” The actor is nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for his role in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.

The “Film Workers for Palestine” pledge has been signed by more than 1,300 filmmakers, actors, and industry professionals. Hacks actress Hannah Einbinder, who won Best Actress in a Comedy Series, also voiced support for the boycott, calling it an effective tool to apply pressure. She said it targeted institutions rather than individuals and emphasized the importance of distinguishing Judaism from the State of Israel.

Fellow Hacks actress Megan Stalter attended the awards wearing a T-shirt and bag with the words “Cease Fire!” referencing the conflict in Gaza.

The 77th Emmy Awards, hosted by Nate Bargatze, were held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
