PARIS, June 8 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Israel is preparing for at least several days of fighting with Iran and the possibility of a prolonged campaign, CNN reported, citing an Israeli military official.
The Israeli military accused Iran of breaking the April ceasefire by firing ballistic missiles at Israel late Sunday.
The Israel Defense Forces reported that Iran had fired close to 30 ballistic missiles since the latest fighting resumed.
Tehran-backed Houthi forces in Yemen also fired two missiles, with one intercepted and the other falling short of Israeli territory.
Israel launched two waves of attacks on Iran in response.
The first wave targeted strategic aerial defense systems, while the second targeted a petrochemical facility that the IDF said assists in the manufacture of ballistic missiles and other weapons.
The Israeli military official said the strikes were carried out solely by Israel.
The United States assisted Israel in aerial defense by intercepting some of the missiles.
The IDF has coordinated with U.S. Central Command, and IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir spoke twice with CENTCOM commander Adm. Brad Cooper in the past 24 hours.
