Iraq, Iran security officials discuss border control in phone call, Iraqi adviser says

BAGHDAD, January 13, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Iraq’s National Security Adviser Qassim al-Araji said he held a phone call on Tuesday with Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, to discuss recent regional security developments.

In a post on X, al-Araji said the two officials stressed the importance of controlling the shared Iraq-Iran border and the need for enhanced coordination and cooperation “to prevent infiltration attempts by terrorist groups across the border.”
