RIYADH, August 5 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told Hamas political bureau chief Khalil al-Hayya that Iran would support decisions taken by Palestinian leaders during negotiations over a possible Gaza peace deal, Iranian state broadcaster IRIB reported on Wednesday.

IRIB quoted Pezeshkian as saying Iran would support “any measure, initiative or decision” adopted by the Palestinian leadership during the negotiations.

The call came after US President Donald Trump announced last week what he described as an agreement to secure the disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza.

Hamas said it would proceed with the agreement only if Israel halted strikes in Gaza and withdrew its troops to the “yellow line” defined by the October ceasefire agreement.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday that Israel was reviewing a draft and had not agreed to it.
