PARIS, November 25, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot will meet his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi in Paris on November 26 to discuss bilateral and regional issues, as well as Iran’s contested nuclear programme, the French foreign ministry said on Monday.

“This will be an opportunity for us to call on Iran to comply with its obligations towards the IAEA and for the swift resumption of cooperation with the agency,” the ministry said ahead of Araqchi’s visit.

According to the ministry, the talks will also address the situation of two French citizens who were released in Iran but are still not permitted to leave the country and remain at the French embassy in Tehran.

Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson confirmed the visit and said Araqchi would also raise the case of Mahdieh Esfandiari, an Iranian student in Lyon who was conditionally released by France in late October after being arrested earlier this year over anti-Israel social media posts. Tehran said at the time it would pursue her full release.
