Iran Says It Will Not Implement US Memorandum but Leaves Door Open to Talks

PARIS, July 20, Saudi Arabia Breaking News — Iran will not implement the memorandum of understanding signed with the United States last month because Washington violated its commitments, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said on Monday.
“The other side not only failed to implement it, but violated it and acted contrary to both its text and its spirit,” Baghaei told reporters.
He said the agreement contained reciprocal commitments and protected Iranian interests, but alleged US breaches had made its implementation by Tehran “practically impossible.”
Despite rejecting implementation of the memorandum, Baghaei indicated that Iran could consider further negotiations. He described diplomacy, alongside military action, as another instrument for protecting the country’s interests.
His comments followed a statement by Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, who described US President Donald Trump’s signature as “worthless and unreliable” following renewed American strikes.
Baghaei said mediators had delivered additional proposals to Tehran despite the continuing hostilities but declined to provide details. Qatar and Pakistan have served as intermediaries between Iran and the United States.
