RIYADH, August 9 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Iran is not holding negotiations with the United States and will not restart discussions until Washington addresses alleged breaches of an interim agreement signed in June, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday.
“We currently have no negotiations with America,” Araghchi said while in Oman for bilateral negotiations.
He said Iran continued to exchange messages with the United States through intermediaries, who were seeking ways to resume negotiations.
“In our view, until the violations of the understanding are resolved, and America compensates for what it violated in the memorandum of understanding, there is no possibility of restarting negotiations,” Araghchi said.
The Iranian foreign minister also addressed negotiations with Oman over safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
Araghchi said the talks had “progressed well” and were in their final stages, with Iran and Oman set to determine a new maritime route through the strait.
