PARIS, May 29 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps navy fired warning shots at four vessels near the Strait of Hormuz, CNN reported, citing a post on an IRGC-affiliated Telegram account.

The vessels were trying to pass through the waterway “without prior coordination or authorization,” the post said.

The IRGC said the exchange of fire was the source of explosions reported by air defenses.

Separately, Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency reported that Iranian armed forces launched missiles from the south toward designated targets. The targets were not immediately identified.

It was not immediately clear whether the IRGC statement and the Fars report referred to the same incident.

Earlier Thursday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei condemned U.S. strikes on a ground control station in Bandar Abbas and said Iran was determined to “take all necessary measures” to defend itself, according to the ministry.

Baghaei also criticized recent U.S. statements on Oman, saying Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s threat to impose sanctions on the country was “an absolutely illegal act,” according to state-run Press TV.
