PARIS, June 16 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Iran is demanding that Israel withdraw from Lebanon as part of the agreement Tehran has reached with the United States, CNN reported.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told ambassadors, foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations in Tehran that Iran views the war in Lebanon as linked to the conflict between Iran and the United States.
Araghchi stated that any agreement to end the war must include Lebanon.
He said Iran had considered ending the war in Lebanon to be one of the requirements for ending the war with Iran from the beginning of the conflict.
Araghchi described the agreement as one involving the United States and Israel on one side and Iran and Hezbollah on the other.
He added that the termination of the war would not be complete without the withdrawal of Israeli forces from territories occupied during the conflict.
U.S. officials said Monday that Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon was not part of the agreement.
Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said Israel’s military would not withdraw from southern Lebanon.
U.S. President Donald Trump said at the Group of Seven summit in France on Tuesday that Netanyahu “has to be more responsible with respect to Lebanon.”
