JEDDAH, April 5, Saudi Arabia Breaking News — A former Iranian foreign minister and adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned on Sunday that the “resistance front” could target the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a strategic Red Sea shipping lane, if the United States escalates its attacks.
Ali Akbar Velayati said in a social media post that global energy and trade flows could be disrupted “with a single signal” if the White House repeated what he called “its stupid mistakes.”
Iran leads the so-called Axis of Resistance, which includes armed groups in Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen. Yemen’s Houthi movement has previously carried out attacks on vessels in and around the Red Sea shipping corridor.
