RIYADH, December 16 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) marked its tenth anniversary on December 15, 2025, highlighting a decade of joint institutional work aimed at enhancing security and countering terrorism and extremism worldwide.
The coalition was established in December 2015 following an initiative by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and was launched under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, with the objective of unifying the Muslim world against transnational terrorist threats.
A key development occurred in 2023 when Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz assumed the chairmanship of the IMCTC Council of Ministers of Defense, marking a new phase of oversight and strategic momentum.
In February 2024, Prince Khalid announced SAR 100 million in financial support from the Kingdom, in addition to 46 specialized training scholarships for member states.
Over the past decade, the IMCTC has implemented an integrated operational framework covering four main areas: intellectual engagement, media, countering the financing of terrorism, and military cooperation, benefiting thousands of trainees.
IMCTC Secretary-General Major General Mohammed Al-Moghedi said the anniversary represents an opportunity to assess progress and outline future directions, noting that the coalition plans to expand initiatives focused on sustainability, knowledge transfer, and strengthened partnerships to support security, peace, and moderation.
