IDC, FAO Review 2022–2027 Cooperation in Rome

Rome, October 9, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Princess Sarah bint Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Executive Director of the International Dates Council (IDC), met UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Director-General Qu Dongyu at FAO headquarters, underscoring IDC’s global role in promoting dates as both a food and an industry to advance sustainable agricultural development and strengthen the sector’s position in international markets.
Princess Sarah highlighted the IDC as an independent intergovernmental organization dedicated to developing the date palm sector and enhancing its sustainability and competitiveness worldwide. She said the council coordinates among member states and international bodies while supporting development, production and marketing programs to raise quality standards and expand global market presence.
The officials reviewed areas of cooperation under the 2022–2027 framework agreement, which seeks to unify efforts to bolster the sector’s sustainability and global competitiveness. They discussed steps to activate the agreement in the coming phase, including appointing official contact points to coordinate joint programs and projects.
