SAUDI ARABIA, June 24 — Inspectors from the United Nations nuclear watchdog will visit nuclear sites in Iran, International Atomic Energy Agency chief Rafael Mariano Grossi said, after conflicting statements from Washington and Tehran over inspection access.
Grossi said the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding provides for IAEA supervision of nuclear activities linked to nuclear material facilities.
He said inspections would be required for that supervision to take place, adding that the visits would happen even if the timing had not been finalized.
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Iran had agreed to more U.N. nuclear inspections. Iran has said no visit by IAEA inspectors has been scheduled.
The IAEA inspected an active Iranian nuclear facility in early June, but has not had access for about a year to nuclear facilities damaged in the 2025 U.S.-Israeli bombing of Iran.
