First tanker carrying Russian crude since Hormuz closure to arrive in Japan

RIYADH, May 3 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - The first tanker carrying Russian crude oil since the closure of the Strait of Hormuz is expected to arrive in Japan as early as Monday, according to Japanese industry ministry and other sources cited by Japan News.

The cargo is set to be delivered by Taiyo Oil to its refinery in Ehime Prefecture.

The oil comes from the Sakhalin-2 oil and gas project in Russia’s far east, which is exempt from Western sanctions imposed over Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, the report said.

The Oman-flagged tanker Voyager left Sakhalin in late April, according to vessel-tracking website Marine Traffic.
