EU to Propose Sanctions on Israeli Ministers, Partial Suspension of Association Agreement

Von der Leyen made the announcement in her State of the Union address to the European Parliament in Strasbourg, citing the ongoing war in Gaza.

“What is happening in Gaza has shaken the conscience of the world,” she said, noting divisions within the EU on the issue but pledging that the commission would act independently where possible.
