Brussels, September 9, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – More than 50 members of the European Parliament have sent an urgent letter to EU Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib, calling for immediate measures to ensure the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gaza, which they described as facing an “unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.”
The lawmakers said millions of euros in European taxpayer funds have been allocated for aid, yet shipments of food, medicine, and medical supplies remain blocked at border crossings. They accused Israel of pursuing a “systematic policy” of blocking, diverting, or destroying aid shipments, preventing supplies from reaching civilians.
They argued that the blockade on Gaza amounts to collective punishment and stressed that neutrality in aid delivery does not mean neutrality toward alleged crimes against civilians and humanitarian workers.
The letter urged the EU to:
– Organize a direct humanitarian operation to bypass Israeli channels.
– Establish a transparent tracking mechanism for aid deliveries.
– Hold Israel politically and legally accountable for violations of international humanitarian law, including suspending the EU–Israel partnership agreement and imposing sanctions.
The signatories said Europe must move beyond statements of concern, warning that Palestinians face the risk of famine and annihilation unless urgent action is taken.
