BRUSSELS, October 18 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - The European Union condemned attacks by violent settlers in the occupied West Bank, including against European diplomats, and called on Sunday for accountability and measures to prevent further violence.

The statement followed remarks by Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot on Saturday that Israeli settlers had attacked Palestinian civilians, European diplomats and a French mayor.

The EU’s foreign policy spokesperson welcomed statements by Israeli representatives condemning the attacks but said they needed to be followed by action.

The spokesperson called for effective measures to prevent continued violent harassment of Palestinians, including during the ongoing olive harvest, and of journalists.
