Eight foreign ministers call for civilian protection and aid access in Gaza

RIYADH, August 6 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — The foreign ministers of eight countries called on Thursday for the protection of civilians in Gaza and the immediate, safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, medical supplies and relief assistance across the territory.
The joint statement was issued by the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt and Türkiye.
The ministers condemned what they described as continuing Israeli attacks on medical facilities and civilian infrastructure. They said civilian casualties, including women and children, constituted a serious violation of international law, including international humanitarian law.
According to the statement, the actions also threatened efforts to implement the second phase of a comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza. The ministers cited an announcement by US President Donald Trump that Palestinian factions had accepted a roadmap that included provisions concerning weapons.
The statement also linked the situation in Gaza to attacks by settlers in the occupied West Bank, settlement expansion and unilateral measures intended to change the status of occupied Jerusalem. The ministers said those actions undermined the basis of a two-state solution.
They called on the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to take practical measures to protect civilians and support a permanent ceasefire. The statement also cited obligations under UN Security Council Resolution 2803 and called for accountability for serious violations.
The ministers rejected attempts to annex occupied Palestinian territory, impose Israeli sovereignty or forcibly displace Palestinians. They reaffirmed support for an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
