Drone and missile attacks reported across Gulf states amid regional escalation

RIYADH, March 7, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Several Gulf countries reported drone and missile attacks on Saturday as regional tensions continued to escalate.

Iran’s military said it launched missiles and drones targeting U.S. military facilities in Bahrain and Qatar.

In the United Arab Emirates, Dubai International Airport was targeted by multiple drone attacks. Passengers reported at least one impact and several interceptions. Airport departures were suspended for several hours before operations were expected to resume later in the day.

Qatar’s Ministry of Defence said air defense systems repelled a ballistic missile attack.

In Bahrain, air raid sirens sounded but there were no reports of impacts. The Bahraini military said that since the beginning of the Iranian attacks, 86 missiles and 148 drones have been intercepted and destroyed.

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense said air defense systems intercepted 16 drones heading toward the Shaybah oil field early on Saturday.

The ministry did not specify the origin of the drones.

The Shaybah oil field, located in the Empty Quarter desert, produces around one million barrels of crude oil per day, according to Saudi Aramco.
