Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Inaugurates New Facilities at King Salman Air Base in Riyadh

Riyadh, December 9, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, inaugurated new facilities at King Salman Air Base in the central sector during a ceremony held in Riyadh on Tuesday. The project forms part of strategic development initiatives aimed at strengthening the combat readiness of the Royal Saudi Air Force.


Upon arrival at the base, HRH the Crown Prince was received by Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz; Deputy Minister of Defense Prince Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Ayyaf; Chief of the General Staff Gen. Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili; Assistant Minister of Defense for Executive Affairs Dr. Khaled Al-Bayari; and Commander of the Royal Saudi Air Force Lt. Gen. Turki bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz.


Following the national anthem, HRH the Crown Prince officially inaugurated the facilities and posed for a group photo with project officers. He then toured several sections of the base, reviewing the technical, administrative and residential zones, as well as newly constructed infrastructure designed according to advanced military standards.


During the tour, HRH received a briefing on the stages of construction, engineering and technical components, and the range of facilities included in the project. These consist of technical, training, administrative and residential buildings, together with integrated support services intended to enhance the operational capabilities of the Air Force and the broader armed forces, including planning, command, control, logistics and joint operations.


A ceremony followed the tour, beginning with a recitation of the Holy Quran. The Commander of the Royal Saudi Air Force delivered a speech expressing appreciation for the Crown Prince’s patronage and highlighting the role of the new facilities in supporting the Air Force’s modernization efforts and strengthening its advanced combat systems, aircraft and trained national personnel.


A documentary film was presented, outlining the implementation timeline of the project, which began in the third quarter of 2021 and required 38 months to complete. Designed in the “Salmani” architectural style, the project includes 115 buildings covering more than 126,000 square meters, main and parallel runways, aircraft aprons, helicopter landing pads, hangars, and an air traffic control tower, along with technical, administrative, residential and security facilities.


At the conclusion of the ceremony, HRH the Crown Prince received a commemorative gift and posed for a group photo with base officers before departing.


The event was attended by senior officials, including Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz; Riyadh Deputy Governor Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz; Secretary of Riyadh Region Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Ayyaf; and several ministers and military and civilian leaders.
