Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Donates Blood, Launches Saudi Arabia’s 2026 National Blood Donation Campaign

RIYADH, Oct 6 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, donated blood on Tuesday, launching Saudi Arabia’s annual National Blood Donation Campaign for 2026, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The campaign aims to raise awareness of regular voluntary blood donation, strengthen social responsibility and support national self-sufficiency in blood units and blood components.
Blood donations help meet the needs of patients requiring emergency medical care, including cancer patients, people with blood disorders and other critical cases.
The campaign also supports health-sector efforts to maintain safe and sustainable blood supplies across the Kingdom and encourage voluntary donation as a long-term community practice.
Saudi Arabia recorded more than 900,000 blood donors during 2025, according to SPA.
The 2025 national campaign launched by the Crown Prince resulted in the number of donors increasing fourfold and recorded more than 65,000 donors, the highest number in the history of the Kingdom’s blood banks.
Voluntary donations accounted for 100% of participation, while more than 85% were first-time donors.
Blood units collected through the campaign benefited more than 63,000 people, while about 10,000 people benefited from platelet donations and another 10,000 from plasma.
The initiative also supports the objectives of Saudi Arabia’s Health Sector Transformation Program and Saudi Vision 2030.
