Coalition Says Houthi Airport Attacks Threaten Civilians, Details Operations against Weapons Sites

RIYADH, October 15 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Houthi attacks on airports and civilian facilities pose a direct threat to civilians and travellers, Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Malki said on Thursday as he outlined operations against weapons storage sites and missile launchers.
Speaking at a press conference on the targeting of King Khalid International Airport, Al-Malki said the attacks violated international humanitarian law and its customary rules. He condemned strikes on Saudi civilian facilities used by tens of thousands of people each day.
Al-Malki offered condolences to the families of those killed and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
He said the targeting of Makkah and Madinah threatened people visiting the Two Holy Mosques and underscored the need to protect Saudi Arabia and its holy sites.
The coalition’s Joint Forces Command had worked to dismantle a network of mountain storage sites in Sanaa, Saada and Amran used to launch attacks on Yemen and neighbouring countries, he said. It had also destroyed several missile launch platforms.
Al-Malki said Saudi air defence systems had intercepted threats and thwarted attempted attacks. Coalition operations would continue against Houthi offensive capabilities, including weapons depots and missile launchers.
He said the Joint Forces Command had established that the Houthis were using civilian facilities and vital resources to support their war effort. He identified Al-Sabaha Central Station in Sanaa, underground reserve fuel storage facilities, fuel tanks and berths used to transport and unload fuel in Hodeidah, Sanaa and Dhamar.
Al-Malki called for an immediate halt to Houthi attacks on civilians and civilian facilities, including airports, ports, oil installations and infrastructure.
