Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney said Tuesday that all parties involved in the Iran conflict must respect international law, urging adherence to the rules of engagement and warning against attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure.

Speaking to reporters, Carney said Canada expects all sides in the conflict to follow international law “in any conflict,” and made clear that this includes avoiding attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure. He added that Ottawa has delivered that message both publicly and privately.
