AMMAN, July 19, Saudi Arabia Breaking News — Aqaba’s international airport and seaport have been evacuated following what the US Embassy in Jordan described on Sunday as a “specific and credible threat.”
The embassy strongly advised US citizens to avoid travelling to either facility. Jordanian authorities had not immediately commented on the reported evacuations.
Located on the Red Sea, Aqaba is home to Jordan’s only seaport and is typically a major destination during the summer tourism season.
The embassy also reiterated its advice for Americans to avoid military bases in Jordan, which have been repeatedly targeted by Iranian attacks. One previous attack killed two US service members.
