ALULA, November 21, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Ancient Kingdoms Festival 2025 officially began on Thursday with an opening ceremony at the Al Hijr archaeological site, one of Saudi Arabia’s most significant locations listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The ceremony featured presentations highlighting local history, culture, and storytelling traditions.
Visitors were greeted by AlUla’s narrators — local story ambassadors — who welcomed guests by sharing accounts of the city’s past and its central role along the historic Incense Route.
Dr. Abdulrahman Alsuhaibani, Vice President of Culture at the Royal Commission for AlUla, said AlUla is now recognized as one of the world’s most prominent archaeological regions. He noted that the festival underscores the rich cultural legacy of the northwestern Arabian Peninsula.
The Ancient Kingdoms Festival runs until December 6 and this year is held under the theme “Journeys Through Time,” inviting visitors to explore AlUla’s deep history, successive civilizations, and longstanding cultural traditions.
