AlUla Launches Photography Initiative Showcasing Natural and Cultural Heritage

ALULA, Saudi Arabia — August 20, 2026 — Saudi Arabia Breaking News: AlUla has launched a photography initiative highlighting the region’s diverse landscapes, cultural heritage and historic sites through the work of professional photographers, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The initiative, launched in conjunction with World Photography Day, which is observed annually on August 19, features work by eight selected photographers who captured AlUla from different locations, times of day and perspectives.
The photographs showcase the AlUla Oasis, sandstone formations at sunrise and sunset, cultural and human scenes, changing weather over the valleys and heritage sites beneath star-filled skies.
Among the scenes documented are Elephant Rock in morning light, aerial views of palm farms surrounded by sandstone mountains and golden desert, camel riders crossing the landscape, and low clouds moving through the mountains of Ashar Valley.
The initiative aims to highlight photography’s role in documenting AlUla’s natural and cultural identity while presenting the destination’s changing landscapes through different light, weather conditions and perspectives.
