Abu Dhabi, September 29 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club announced it will organize the Arialah Dhow Race in the 60-foot category on October 3, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region. More than 90 dhows are expected to compete.

The 25-nautical-mile race will feature prize money totaling AED4.2 million, with awards distributed up to 90th place.

Organizers said the incentives aim to encourage dhow owners, captains, and sailors to preserve seafaring traditions and safeguard the UAE’s maritime heritage, regarded as a cornerstone of the nation’s identity.

The 60-foot dhow races are considered the pinnacle of traditional sailing competitions, recognized for their long distances, large prizes, and strong rivalries. With a history dating back many years, the Arialah Race continues to attract large audiences and sailing enthusiasts, highlighting the expertise of the UAE’s most accomplished captains and crews.
