UAE Says Air Defences Intercept Ballistic Missiles and Drones During Iranian Attacks

Riyadh, March 10, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said air defenses detected nine ballistic missiles on Tuesday, destroying eight, while one missile fell into the sea.


Authorities also detected 35 drones, intercepting 26, while nine fell within the country’s territory, the ministry said.


Since the start of the Iranian attacks, the UAE said 262 ballistic missiles have been detected. Of these, 241 were destroyed, 19 fell into the sea, and two struck within the country’s territory.


The ministry added that 1,475 Iranian drones have been detected since the beginning of the attacks. Of these, 1,385 were intercepted, while 90 fell within the country’s territory. Eight cruise missiles were also detected and destroyed.


The attacks have resulted in six deaths among Emirati, Pakistani, Nepalese and Bangladeshi nationals, while 122 people sustained moderate to minor injuries, according to authorities.


The injured include nationals from multiple countries, including the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, the Comoros, Türkiye, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Jordan and Palestine.


The UAE Ministry of Defence said it remains fully prepared to confront any threats and will respond firmly to attempts to undermine the country’s security, stressing that protecting national sovereignty, stability and strategic interests remains a priority.
