UAE, Egypt leaders discuss economic ties, urge immediate de-escalation

RIYADH, March 19 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi discussed economic and development cooperation during talks in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday, while also calling for an immediate halt to escalating tensions in the Middle East.


The meeting took place during El-Sisi’s visit to the UAE, where the two leaders reviewed ways to strengthen bilateral ties in support of shared interests and the wellbeing of their peoples.


They also exchanged Eid Al-Fitr greetings and expressed hopes for continued prosperity for their countries, as well as peace and stability across the Arab and Islamic worlds and beyond.


The talks addressed the military escalation in the region and its implications for regional and international security.


El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s condemnation of Iranian attacks targeting the UAE and other countries in the region, saying they violated state sovereignty and international law.


He also affirmed Egypt’s solidarity with the UAE in measures aimed at safeguarding its security, territorial integrity and the safety of its people.


Both sides stressed the need to contain the escalation and said dialogue and diplomacy remained essential to preventing further crises and preserving regional stability.


The meeting was attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President, and other senior officials.
