Saudi Arabia Condemns Iran’s Targeting of Two ADNOC Tankers

RIYADH, August 14 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned Iran’s targeting of two tankers belonging to the UAE’s ADNOC while they were transiting the Strait of Hormuz, holding Tehran fully responsible for the consequences and demanding an immediate end to the attacks.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the incident as an unacceptable continuation of Iranian attacks against commercial vessels and tankers.

“The Kingdom affirms that the recurrence of these attacks represents a dangerous escalation and a direct threat to the security and safety of maritime navigation and to the security of global energy supplies. It constitutes a grave violation of international laws and norms and a flagrant challenge to UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which affirmed the obligation to respect the rights and freedom of navigation of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz and condemned any measures or threats that would obstruct them,” the ministry said in a statement.

Saudi Arabia demanded that Iran immediately halt the attacks and comply with relevant international laws. The Kingdom said regional security and the safety of international navigation are shared responsibilities, adding that the continuation of such attacks cannot be accepted or tolerated.

The Kingdom also reaffirmed its full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and its support for measures taken by the UAE to protect its sovereignty, security and resources.
