PARIS, April 18 — The Israeli military said it carried out aerial and ground strikes in southern Lebanon after identifying what it described as several incidents in which militants violated the ceasefire by approaching areas near Israeli troops.
In a statement, the military said the militants approached from the north toward what it referred to as a “Yellow Line,” a term it mentioned publicly for the first time.
The 10-day ceasefire agreement announced by U.S. President Donald Trump and implemented this week does not mention a “Yellow Line.”
The U.S. State Department said on Thursday that under the ceasefire agreement, Israel reserves the right to defend itself “at any time, against planned, imminent, or ongoing attacks.”
Senior Hezbollah official Mahmoud Qammati told Lebanon’s Al-Jadeed TV on Saturday that the group would not tolerate Israeli strikes similar to those carried out after the November 2024 truce, when Israel continued near-daily airstrikes.
“This time we will not practice the strategic patience policy,” Qammati said.
