Austrian, Chinese Foreign Ministers Hold Talks in Vienna on Multilateralism and Peacebuilding

Vienna, September 13, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks in Vienna on Saturday focused on effective multilateralism, international law, and peacebuilding.

Wang arrived in Austria late on Friday as part of a European tour that also includes Slovenia and Poland.

During the discussions, Meinl-Reisinger urged China to use its position as a permanent UN Security Council member to press Russia to end the war in Ukraine. She also reiterated Austria’s readiness to host negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv.

Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen also received Wang Yi, with talks covering geopolitical challenges, climate change, and bilateral relations. Both sides emphasized the growing importance of a strengthened multilateral order.
