RIYADH - The National Center for Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for several regions across Saudi Arabia. Moderate to heavy thunderstorms, accompanied by hail showers and active winds stirring dust, are forecast to lead to torrential rains in parts of the regions of Asir, Al-Baha, Makkah, Riyadh, and Eastern region. Lighter rains are expected in parts of the regions of Qassim, Najran, and Jazan.
The report, released on Saturday, indicated that the movement of winds over the Red Sea would be northerly to northwesterly at a speed of 15 to 35 km/h in the northern and central parts and southwesterly to northwesterly at a speed of 10 to 30 km/h, reaching up to 45 km/h with rainy thunderclouds.
In the Arabian Gulf, the wind will be easterly to northeasterly at a speed of 15 to 30 km/h, reaching up to 45 km/h, with rainy thunderclouds.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions, avoid low-lying areas prone to flooding, and follow updates from official sources.
