Ukraine Zelensky Makes Historic Visit To Saudi Arabia For Arab Summit





PARIS, France - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Jeddah on Thursday to attend the 32nd Arab Summit, which is being hosted by Saudi Arabia.


Zelensky was received at King Abdulaziz International Airport by Prince Badr Bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Makkah Region, and Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League.


Zelensky is the first Ukrainian leader to participate in an Arab Summit, as part of his efforts to enhance bilateral relations and Ukraine’s ties the Arab world.


Zelensky is expected to meet with several Arab leaders and officials on the sidelines of the summit, and discuss issues of mutual interest and cooperation.


Zelensky will also travel to Japan after the summit to attend the G7 meeting in Hiroshima, where he will seek support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity amid the ongoing conflict with Russia.


The 32nd Arab Summit will discuss various regional and international issues, such as the Palestinian cause, the Syrian crisis, the Libyan situation, the Yemeni conflict, and the Iranian interference in Arab affairs.


The summit will also witness the return of Syria to the Arab League after a decade of suspension due to its brutal crackdown on anti-governemt protests in 2011.
