DUBAI, UAE - April 8, 2024

In an official statement released this evening, the United Arab Emirates' Moon-sighting Committee confirmed the observance of Eid Al-Fitr commencing on Wednesday, April 10th, 2024. This marks the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan for the nation.

The Committee, chaired by His Excellency Abdullah bin Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, Minister of Justice, convened earlier today. Following a rigorous adherence to established Sharia methodologies for crescent moon sighting, and comprehensive consultations with neighboring countries, the Committee determined the impossibility of sighting the crescent moon for the month of Shawwal on the evening of April 8th. Consequently, Tuesday, April 9th, is declared the final day of Ramadan for the Islamic calendar year 1445 AH.

Minister Al Nuaimi, on behalf of the Committee, extended heartfelt congratulations on this auspicious occasion. Their well wishes encompassed His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister; Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates; Crown Princes; and the entire citizenry of the United Arab Emirates. Additionally, the Committee extended Eid greetings to Muslims around the world.
