Strengthening Bilateral Ties: Prince Mohammed bin Salman Meets with President Lula da Silva of Brazil



In a significant diplomatic encounter, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, hosted President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva of the Federative Republic of Brazil at the Royal Court in the Al-Yamamah palace. The rendezvous marked an official welcome ceremony, highlighting the importance of fostering and fortifying the ties between these two nations.


The formalities commenced with an official session between HRH the Crown Prince and the distinguished Brazilian President. As the meeting unfolded, HRH the Crown Prince extended a warm welcome to President Lula da Silva, expressing his sincere wishes for a pleasant stay in the Kingdom. The Brazilian President reciprocated the sentiment, expressing gratitude for the gracious reception and warm hospitality accorded to him and his accompanying delegation.


During the official session, both leaders engaged in constructive discussions, reviewing various aspects of the longstanding relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Federative Republic of Brazil. The focus was on joint coordination to enhance cooperation across diverse fields. Both sides explored promising investment opportunities that could serve the mutual interests of the two nations. The leaders also delved into the developments in regional and international situations, discussing matters of common interest and the ongoing efforts directed towards addressing them.


A notable group of dignitaries attended the talks, representing key sectors of both nations. Among those present were Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy; Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, Minister of State and Cabinet Member; Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Sports; Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior; Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Minister of the National Guard; and Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Defence.


The Saudi delegation also included high-profile officials such as Prince Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, Minister of State, Cabinet Member, and National Security Advisor; Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, Minister of Commerce; Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadhli, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture; Eng. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih, Minister of Investment; Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan, Minister of Finance; and Faisal bin Ibrahim Ghulam, the Saudi Ambassador to Brazil.


On the Brazilian side, attendees featured President of the National Congress Rodrigo Otavio Soares Pacheco; Rui Costa, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Office; Fernando Haddad, Minister of Finance; Silvio Costa Filho, Minister of Ports and Airports; Carlos Favaro, Minister of Agriculture; Alexandre Silveira, Minister of Mines and Energy, along with various other senior Brazilian officials.


The pinnacle of the diplomatic engagement was marked by the signing ceremony of a bilateral memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the field of energy. The Saudi Ministry of Energy, represented by Prince Abdulaziz, and the Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy, represented by Silveira, formalized their commitment to collaboration in this crucial sector.


This meeting underscored the commitment of both nations to strengthen their ties and foster collaboration in various domains. The bilateral discussions and the signed MoU in the energy sector signal a positive trajectory for the future relationship between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Federative Republic of Brazil.
