Saudi Arabia Denounces Israeli Settlement Expansion in Occupied West Bank

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement expressing strong condemnation of the Israeli government's decision to authorize the construction of approximately 3,500 new settlement units within the occupied West Bank. The statement further denounced any attempts to annex territories within the West Bank, including East Jerusalem (Al-Quds). The Ministry views such actions as a clear violation of international resolutions, established human rights law, and a significant impediment to achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.

The Kingdom emphasized the critical importance of addressing the ongoing hardships faced by the Palestinian people. The statement reiterated Saudi Arabia's unwavering support for the Palestinian right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the internationally recognized 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem serving as its capital. The Ministry concluded by reaffirming Saudi Arabia's commitment to the Arab Peace Initiative as a viable framework for realizing a two-state solution.
