Princess Sara’s Initiative To Foster Scientific Curiosity And Innovation Among Saudi Youth

Saudi Arabia is witnessing a remarkable transformation in various fields, especially in education, science, and technology. The Kingdom has been investing heavily in developing its human capital and fostering a culture of innovation and creativity among its youth. One of the latest initiatives that reflects this vision is the launch of ilmi, a new center for science and technology learning, created by Princess Sara bin Mashhour bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the wife of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Ilmi, which means “my knowledge” in Arabic, will be a fully accessible Science Discovery and Innovation Center that will open in Riyadh in 2025. The center will span 27,000 square meters and will be located at Mohammed bin Salman Nonprofit City, a hub for social and humanitarian initiatives. Ilmi will offer education in Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STREAM), aiming to ignite scientific curiosity and develop skills among Saudi youth.

The center will feature permanent exhibitions that will cover topics such as space, ecosystems and artificial intelligence. It will also host a variety of installations, events, talks, performances and learning partner programs designed to build a new STREAM community in Saudi Arabia. In addition, ilmi will launch an integrated digital platform that will provide online learning resources and gamified challenges to engage young people and support their learning.

Ilmi is not just a physical space or a website; it is a movement that seeks to inspire and empower young people across Saudi Arabia to explore and create, as well as to tackle challenges hands-on. As Princess Sara said: “ilmi will be a beacon of creativity, learning and accessibility. It will offer all Saudi Arabia’s young and lifelong learners the ability to realize their full potential, further drive advances in the Kingdom, and help shape the future”.

Ilmi is a philanthropic, non-government initiative that is incubated and supported by the Mohammed bin Salman Foundation (Misk), one of the leading organizations that promote youth empowerment and social impact in Saudi Arabia. Ilmi will also operate in partnership with Mohammed bin Salman Nonprofit City, which aims to foster collaboration and synergy among various nonprofit entities.

The launch of ilmi is a testament to the vision and leadership of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who has been championing the cause of youth development and innovation in Saudi Arabia. It is also a reflection of the role and contribution of Princess Sara bin Mashhour bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who has been supporting various social and humanitarian projects in the Kingdom.

Ilmi is a gift to the Saudi Youth, who are the future of the nation. It is an invitation for them to discover their passion, talents, and potentials. It is an opportunity for them to learn from the best experts and mentors in their fields. It is a challenge for them to apply their knowledge and skills to solve real-world problems. And it is a platform for them to showcase their achievements and aspirations.

We congratulate Princess Sara bin Mashhour bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on this remarkable initiative and we look forward to seeing ilmi come to life. We also commend Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his visionary leadership and his support for youth empowerment. We hope that ilmi will inspire many young Saudis to pursue their dreams and contribute to the development of their country.
