flynas Inaugurates Historic Jeddah-Brussels Flight, Marking a Milestone in Saudi Aviation

Jeddah, December 3, 2023

In a historic moment for Saudi aviation, flynas, the national air carrier and a global low-cost airline leader, celebrated the inauguration of its first direct flight connecting Jeddah and Brussels. This landmark achievement positions flynas as the first Saudi carrier to establish a direct air link between Saudi Arabia and Belgium, further solidifying its status as a key player in the world and Middle East aviation landscape.

The newly launched route, a result of collaboration with the Saudi Air Connectivity Program (ACP), aligns seamlessly with flynas' expansive strategy unveiled early last year, encapsulated by the slogan "We Connect the World to the Kingdom." The airline's commitment to enhancing global connectivity is evident in its continued efforts to establish strategic routes and partnerships, ensuring seamless travel experiences for passengers.

The inauguration ceremony, held at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah on December 2nd, was a momentous occasion attended by dignitaries, including the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Saudi Arabia, Pascal Gregoire. Representatives from flynas, ACP, and Jeddah Airports Company (JEDCO) were also present, underscoring the collaborative efforts that made this historic route a reality.

The establishment of this direct flight is a key component of the Kingdom's National Aviation Strategy, which aims to accommodate 330 million passengers and attract 100 million tourists by 2030. This strategic move towards increased European-Saudi connectivity aligns with broader goals, positioning Saudi Arabia as a global travel and tourism hub, connecting over 250 international destinations by the end of the decade.

This new route also plays a crucial role in the Pilgrim Experience Program, an initiative designed to enhance accessibility to the Two Holy Mosques. By facilitating travel to and from Belgium, flynas contributes to the broader mission of making pilgrimage journeys more accessible and convenient for believers worldwide.

The flight's arrival at Brussels Airport was met with a warm reception, complete with a ceremony attended by the Deputy Ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Brussels, Mohammed Moanes. The inaugural flight received a hero's welcome, symbolizing the strength of the ties between Saudi Arabia and Belgium.

To commemorate this significant achievement, flynas organized a ceremony in Brussels attended by its representatives and key travel agents. The event highlighted the airline's commitment to fostering partnerships and expanding its global network. The new Jeddah-Brussels route is set to operate three weekly flights, providing convenient travel options for both business and leisure passengers.

Currently, flynas boasts a network that spans more than 70 domestic and international destinations, with over 1,500 weekly flights and having served over 60 million passengers since its inception in 2007. The airline's growth plan aligns with the ambitious goals outlined in Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to reach 165 domestic and international destinations by the end of the decade. As flynas continues to soar to new heights, its role in shaping Saudi Arabia's aviation landscape remains integral to the country's vision for a prosperous and interconnected future.
