NORTHERN BORDERS, March 16, 2025 – The Northern Borders Region is witnessing a vibrant bloom of wild plants this spring, with the wild rosy dock (Rumex vesicarius) standing out as a seasonal favorite among residents. This herbaceous plant, known for its distinct sour taste, thrives in desert and semi-desert areas, particularly after seasonal rainfall.

A member of the sorrel family, wild rosy dock is characterized by its green, tangy leaves and is traditionally used in local cuisine. The plant’s natural abundance makes it a sought-after ingredient for enthusiasts of wild herbs, who forage for it in open landscapes.

As interest in environmental preservation grows, the Aman Environmental Association and local conservation groups are promoting sustainable harvesting practices to protect wild rosy dock and other native plant species. Experts emphasize the importance of maintaining ecological balance by preventing overharvesting, which ensures the survival of these plants for future generations while preserving biodiversity and supporting local wildlife.

With increased awareness and conservation efforts, the Northern Borders Region continues to be a rich habitat for unique plant species, reinforcing the Kingdom’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
