RIYADH, March 26 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — The United States has expressed deep appreciation and gratitude to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for his wise leadership and patronage in hosting high-level talks between Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Riyadh from March 23 to 25.
According to a statement issued by the White House, the discussions took place in an atmosphere of constructive cooperation and mutual respect, resulting in a series of key agreements aimed at enhancing regional and international security and stability.
The White House emphasized that the talks reaffirmed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s pivotal role as a key mediator in promoting peace and stability on the global stage.
Among the significant outcomes of the talks was an agreement between the United States and Russia to ensure safe navigation in the Black Sea, avoid the use of force or military strikes, and prevent commercial vessels from being used for military purposes. The U.S. also committed to working with Russia to facilitate its access to global markets for agricultural exports and fertilizers by reducing maritime insurance costs and improving port and payment system access for export transactions.
Additionally, both sides agreed to implement measures stemming from the agreement between Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, prohibiting the targeting of energy infrastructure in both Russia and Ukraine. The United States and Russia welcomed third-party efforts supporting these agreements and reaffirmed their shared commitment to pursuing a lasting and sustainable peace in the region.
The United States and Ukraine also reached critical understandings to ensure safe navigation in the Black Sea and avoid the militarization of commercial vessels. The U.S. pledged to support negotiations on prisoner exchanges, the release of civilian detainees, and the return of Ukrainian children who had been forcibly taken to Russia.
Furthermore, the U.S. and Ukraine agreed to enforce measures consistent with prior agreements between Presidents Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy to prevent attacks on energy infrastructure in both nations. Both parties acknowledged the important role of third countries in supporting the implementation of maritime and energy agreements and reiterated their determination to continue working towards a lasting peace.
The White House statement concluded by reaffirming the United States’ commitment to advancing negotiations and supporting a peaceful resolution to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, building on the understandings reached in Riyadh and ongoing international efforts to promote stability and peace.
