UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer Visits Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi
ABU DHABI, Dec 10 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – British Prime Minister Keir Starmer visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi during his official trip to the United Arab Emirates, accompanied by UAE Ambassador to the UK Mansour Belhoul Al Falasi, UK Ambassador to the UAE Edward Hobart, and his delegation.
Dr. Yousef Al-Obaidli, Director General of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, guided the Prime Minister and his delegation through the mosque’s grand halls and exterior corridors. They were introduced to the mosque’s cultural mission of promoting coexistence, tolerance, and openness, a legacy rooted in the vision of the UAE's founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
The delegation learned about the mosque’s rich history, architectural beauty, and its unique collections, which exemplify the finest traditions of Islamic art and culture. Combining diverse artistic and architectural styles, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque represents a masterpiece of cultural unity, reflecting the harmony of Islamic civilization.
Prime Minister Starmer praised the mosque’s role in fostering global understanding and cultural exchange. “The UAE and the UK share a long history and deep relationship that spans centuries. Visiting the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque has been an honour. It is a testament to the impactful efforts to promote shared human values across religions and cultures. People from around the world gather here in peace, and I have seen the continued cooperation between the UAE and the UK in this area,” he said.
To commemorate the visit, the mosque presented the Prime Minister with a compass inspired by its stunning chandeliers and a copy of Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque: A Lights of Peace, a publication showcasing the mosque’s architectural and artistic grandeur through award-winning images from the “Spaces of Light” Award.
