Dubai, August 14, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) announced on Thursday that UAE citizens may now renew their passports up to one year before expiry, replacing the previous six-month limit.
The decision, issued by ICP Chairman Ali Mohammed Al Shamsi, allows renewal when the remaining validity is one year or less. The service will be available from Monday, August 18, 2025, through the Authority’s smart services platform.
Al Shamsi said the measure will enable citizens to plan international travel in advance, complete official transactions more efficiently, and increase the use of secure digital documents.
He added that the UAE passport maintains its position as the world’s most powerful, trusted, and widely recognised travel document, and that the updated renewal policy further strengthens its global standing and establishes the UAE’s passport issuance and renewal system as a regional and international model.
